Pastor For Sale
2Ti 4:3 — 2Ti 4:4
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
I had a vision a few days ago where I saw a pastor standing on a platform with a sign hung around his neck that read, “for sale”. I then saw that there were people standing in front of the pastor each with an amount of money in his/her hands. I then saw the pastor surveying the crowd to see what each individual was offering. So in essence the pastor was looking for the highest bidder and was willing to preach whatever the highest bidder (s) wanted to hear.
Contrast that with what the Apostle Paul said in 2nd Corinthians.
2 Corinthians 2:17
For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.
The word, “peddling “, here is from the Greek word, “kapēleúō” . It means to corrupt God’s Word for personal gain.
Paul realized that he was speaking the Word of God and feared God and therefore did not dare water down the message given to him. Paul was not concerned that the message he preached offended people. He made no apologies.
