How Do You Read

A few questions before posting my dream.

When reading the Bible, do you believe what you read or read what you believe?

Do you Fear a God who has the power to cast both physical body and soul into an eternal he’ll from whence there’s no escape?

Now to my dream.

I had a dream where I saw a church completed with pews and pulpit. I saw a congregation seated ready to hear a sermon. I saw the preacher standing at the pulpit ready to give it. However, this is where things were different.  In back of the pulpit where one would normally see a Cross there was instead a large golden calf. I watched the preacher turn from facing the congregation towards the calf. The calf had a door in its side that the preacher opened and inside it contained what looked like a Bible which the preacher took out and began to preach to the congregation from.

Think of the characteristics of the golden calf.

It has no life in it nor can it impart life.

It can’t see

It can’t hear

It can’t speak

It can’t do anything.

Does this sound familiar?
Exo 32:1 — Exo 32:9

The Gold Calf

32 Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” And Aaron said to them, “Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf.

Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”

So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.” Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

Notice that the people contributed to the making of the golden calf. Jesus said where your heart is there is also your treasure.

Aaron fashioned the golden calf from the golden jewelry received from the Israelites.

Then, after seeing the people’s reaction to it built an altar to it and declared, “tomorrow is a feast to the Lord”.

It states that after the people brought their offerings they rose up to play which means that they had an orgy.

I will go back to what I asked at the beginning of my post. Does it strike terror in your heart to realize that God  can cast both body and soul into hell .

Or, is the “god”, you serve one made by human hands whom you do not have to worry about leading a sinful life because it doesn’t see what you do, hear what you say, and cannot speak so as to correct you or take action to discipline you.

I will end with the following quotes from A.W. Tozer

“Any objection to the evangelistic methods of our present golden-calf Christianity, is met with the triumphant reply, “But we are winning the lost!”

And what are you winning them to?
To true discipleship?
To cross-carrying?
To self-denial?
To separation from the world?
To crucifixion of the flesh?
To holy living?
To nobility of character?
To a despising of the world’s treasures?
To total committal to Christ?
Of course, the answer to all these questions is NO!”

A.W. Tozer

Let us beware that the Jesus we “accept” is not one we have created out of the dust of our imagination and formed after our own likeness.

  1. God and God alone. John 14:6

  2. Amen Good is the Word of the Lord…
Before reading your email I wrote this just this morning…

    Heart of a Priest
    Part 9

“And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest,
has turned My wrath away from the sons of Israel
while he was zealous for My sake among them”
    Numbers 25:15

The true priests of the Lord are zealous for God’s glory. They have a burning passion within their hearts for His ways, His Holiness and His Glory. They do not sit idly by while men in their insolence and disregard for His glory bring dishonor to Him in His house. They who have no zeal will not react to the situations before them, they may cringe a bit, they may be saddened or even give themselves to prayer but the true priest of God DO, they respond out a heart that is “zealous for His sake” among the lukewarm people of God.

This rising up of Phinehas was in the midst of a great judgement from God for Israel’s backsliding ways in bringing the worldly ways of men to the very people of God!

    “And Israel lived in Shittim.
And the people began to fornicate
    with the daughters of Moab”
    Numbers 25:1 (LITV)

While Moses and the true priests of the Lord were weeping before the Tabernacle a brazen act of adultery was happening right in their midst. Zimri* (Song of the Lord) brought into his tent a Midianite woman Cozbi* (false, deceptive, a lie) and we see the mixture of the Song of the Lord being polluted by the joining of it to the polluted things of the world. It is in such a backdrop where Phinehas rose up from the place of weeping and took a spear and slew both the Israelite and the Midianite in His zeal for the Lord. God’s response to this act…?

    “Wherefore say, Behold,
I give unto him (Phineas) my covenant of peace:
And he shall have it, and his seed after him,
    even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood;
because he was zealous for his God,
and made an atonement for the children of Israel”
    Numbers 25:12-13

Do we not see the Song of the Lord in our day mingled with the flesh and horror of the world? Do we not see apathy in the midst of a carnal church which has mingled itself in the ways and the wisdom of this ungodly world? Is there not men who will rise up in such an hour for His Glory to be restored to His Church. Where are the prophets, where are those who sigh and cry over the abominations committed in the very Name of God? The church is filled with those who break fellowship with one another, who allow His own to speak evil and perverse things and none lay it to heart. It is a day of blasphemy and disgrace for the things WE allow in our midst. The true priests of the Lord will NOT be silent in this day. It is a day to rise up and to speak and DO concerning the mixture and the pollution we see all around us. We see men who take unto themselves the wealth of the widows and the sincere to build up empires unto themselves and none lay it to heart! It is a day to respond to the horror of men’s ways. It is a day to rise up and become INVOLVED in the purifying of His house. Men and women allow God’s very people to withdraw from others, they do not lay to heart the ministration of the blood which binds us together with the cords of His love. No one wants to get involved, they send every man to his own way and in so doing they become participants of the tearing down of His house. This is happening because within the lives of many there is NO ZEAL FOR GOD, they are content with the status quo, they hide themselves in the religious garment of prayer and do nothing. Prayers which do not lead to obedience and zeal for the Lord are the prayers of religious and vain hearts. True prayer brings us to the threshold of His Glory and in that awesome presence men rise up with the fortitude and love of God beating in their hearts to stand for Him in this day. Men who see and feel nothing do nothing.

This new priesthood which is arising is one which contends for God’s purposes in the earth, they stand like beacons in the midst of the apathy and spiritual harlotry of today. They are grieved over the worldly songs, the functioning of the carnal church which operates on the same premise as any worldly corporation. They cannot help but to speak out to all who would hear, “repent and turn from this wickedness” for God will give us a new heart to serve Him in the fervency of His Love for one another.

The call of God is going forth in this hour unto those who have a zeal for His Glory in the earth. The call falls on the hearts of those who become involved in the raising up of a New and Precious Wineskin into which God will pour forth the New Wine. They who respond with the fervor of His Spirit have the heart of a priest unto Him.

“Blessed and holy is the one
having part in the first resurrection.
The second death has no authority over these,
but they will be priests of God and of Christ,
    and will reign with Him…”
    Revelation 20:6

*NOTE: Hebrew Meaning of Zimri and Cozbi
    Zimri:
Jones’ Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names defines the verb that means to sing or make music, and reads “Song Of The Lord” BTN defines Zimri – Meaning & History
Means “my praise” or “my music” in Hebrew.

    Cozbi: כזב
    The root-verb כזב (kazab) means to lie (Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 57:11), or to disappoint or fail (Habakkuk 2:3, Isaiah 58:11). Figuratively, this verb is used to describe a brook or stream that has dried up: Job 6:15, Jeremiah 15:18, also see Isaiah 58:11 (and the opposite of a lying river is a river whose water is sure — Isaiah 33:16;
    Its derivations are:

The masculine noun כזב (kazab), meaning a lie, falsehood or deception (Judges 16:10, Amos 2:4, Isaiah 28:15).
The adjective אכזב (‘akzab), meaning deceptive or disappointing (Jeremiah 15:18 and Micah 1:14 only).
The Bible considers lies the ultimate opposite of whatever God is, stands for and wishes to bring about. Since God is Truth (Deuteronomy 32:4, John 14:6), satan is called the father of lies (John 8:44), and an idol a teacher of lies (Habakkuk 2:18).

  3. As an amen to both this and Brian’s comment:
God will judge not only the shepherds who are feeding themselves; but also those of the sheep who make way for them to do so.

“And you, MY FLOCK, so says the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I judge between lamb and lamb, between rams and he goats.
Is it a small thing to you to have fed on the good pasture, but you must trample the rest of your pastures with your feet? And have you drunk of the clear waters, but the rest you must foul with your feet?”
    (Ezekiel 34:17-18)

The degree to which I am not a part of the solution is the degree to which I perpetuate the problem.
