Is there no balm in Gilead?
Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the healing of the daughter of My people not come?
I have been seeing this vision for a good part of the day and am up now and can’t sleep because I feel compelled to post it. Note above the scripture posted. The vision I have been seeing is of what looks like a hospital, maybe one like you would find from long ago where they would have many beds with sick people in them all in one room. In this vision there were many people and as I said previously, they were all in one room and all were sick.
I saw a man with a clip board in his hands standing in front of the beds. In the vision he wasn’t treating anyone, he was just standing there with his clipboard observing. It was as if he were taking inventory of how many beds were filled.
Those occupying the beds I am assuming were believers, because of the scriptures that were laid on my heart. I do not know the identity of the man standing there although I am assuming he was a physician as he was dressed in a white coat. In the vision the people were not being offered any medicine or treatment and the one person there who could have offered any medicine didn’t, all he did was observe. He offered no treatment hence the scripture above, “is there no physician in Gilead?”.
The following scriptures go with this vision.
The people of Jerusalem turned away from me without ever returning. They still cling to deceit. They refuse to return. I have paid attention and listened, but they weren’t honest. They don’t turn away from their wickedness and ask, “What have we done?” They go their own ways like horses charging into battle. Even storks know when it’s time to return. Mourning doves, swallows, and cranes know when it’s time to migrate. But my people don’t know that I, the LORD, am urging them to return. “‘How can you say that you are wise and that you have the LORD’S teachings? The scribes have used their pens to turn these teachings into lies. Wise people are put to shame, confused, and trapped. They have rejected the word of the LORD. They don’t really have any wisdom. (Jer 8:5-9)
Whom can I speak to? Whom can I give a warning to? Who will listen? Their ears are plugged, and they aren’t able to pay attention. When the LORD speaks his word to them, they show contempt for it and object to it. (Jer 6:10)
“All of them, from the least important to the most important, are eager to make money dishonestly. All of them, from prophets to priests, act deceitfully. They treat my people’s wounds as though they were not serious, saying, ‘Everything is alright! Everything is alright!’ But it’s not alright. (Jer 6:13-14)
It would seem that in this vision that the treatment, if you will, is repentance and a returning to the Lord and being restored and thus healed. The preaching of righteousness is not welcomed nor is holiness. Yet it is this that would cure the, “wound of the people” of God. I am assuming that the man holding the clipboard in the vision is/was a church leader and knows the condition of the people in his care yet offered no cure.
