White Washed or A Robe of White
I had a dream 12/22/2013 and in the dream I was in my old clothes. On one side of me was a bucket of white wash with a brush which meant that I would have to paint myself with the whitewash. On the other side of me was a robe of white. With the white wash, I could keep my clothes on and just cover them up in white wash, i.e., look like I am righteous. With the robe, however, I had to take all my clothes off and be exposed.
I believe that the old clothes in my dream represent at best what the Lord said in Isaiah about our righteousness where He said that they were like filthy rags. To cover them with white wash is to fool oneself into thinking that he/she is in right standing before God when in fact they are not.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.
The word confess is this passage is form 2 Greek words “homo” meaning the same and “logeo” meaning word. So in essence it means that if we speak the same word as God and take the same attitude about our sin that He does, then we’re forgiven.
