“So don’t be anxious, asking, ‘What will we eat?,’ ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘How will we be clothed?’ For it is the pagans who set their hearts on all these things. Your heavenly Father knows you need them all. But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
To seek the kingdom of God is the primary job of a Christian. The Greek word for seek is, the word, zētéō the definition is ,”to seek, in the sense of to endeavor, to try, e.g., followed by the acc. of thing, to try to gain, to strive after, with the idea of earnestness and anxiety”
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Jesus mission was to seek and to save the lost and therefore, after seeking His kingdom first, we are to seek out the lost. The same Greek word, zētéō, is used here for seek.
“What do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying? “If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. In this verse, the word, “search” is the same Greek word, zētéō, that is used for seek
The glorification of man is not to something we are to seek . And those that do so have a hard time believing God.
“I do not receive glory from men; but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. “I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him. “How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?
Once again, the same Greek Word, zētéō, is used. To seek glory from one another is to not only offend the Lord and make a false god but also it puts you in a position to receive false doctrine and false leaders who care nothing for the sheep.
In fact, Paul says the following when departing Ephesus for what would be his last time:
“Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. “I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. “Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.
Notice that the wolves come from within and without and their main goal is to draw a following for themselves thus glorifying themselves and taking the focus off of Jesus and putting it on themselves. Such is the danger of seeking glory from one another and not the glory that comes from God alone.
