Holiness, No One WIll See the Lord Without It!
Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency, Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies), Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
(Gal 5:19-21 AMP)
The phrase, “those who do such things,” is the Greek word “prassontes” (“practicing”) Which means that the lifestyle of sin that was lived in before becoming a Christian hasn’t changed. What must be realized is that the blood of Jesus covers an act of sin, it does not cover a lifestyle of sin for that shows an unrepentant heart. In the book of Hebrews the warning is even more severe. It says the following, “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God”. (Heb 10:26-27 NIV) These verses alone should be enough to scare the “hell” out of anybody. Continuing on this subject, in 1John 1:9 it says the following, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”.
(1Jn 1:9 NIV)
The word confess is the Greek word, (ὁμολογέω)homologeō and is defined as follows:
1) to say the same thing as another, i.e. to agree with, assent
2) to concede
2a) not to refuse, to promise
2b) not to deny
2b1) to confess
2b3) to confess, i.e. to admit or declare one’s self guilty of what one is accused of
To take the same attitude of one’s act of sin that the Lord has is to agree with, speak the same word as, God and then to turn away from it.
I have heard from various people that the preaching of holiness and righteousness is considered legalistic because we are under grace and not the law. I have heard with my own ears, in a church I was once in, a pastor say that you had to explore your sin nature to truly appreciated God’s grace. The Lord gave me a prophetic word for this pastor as he was involved in multiple adulteries. The word was as follows, ” you have released a spirit of adultery into the congregation, (remember, what a leader binds is bound and what a leader looses is loosed), his response was astounding to say the least. What he said was, “you’re right but the sinners will feel more comfortable coming to the church”. May we all wake up and smell the coffee and not be deceived by the devil and his schemes. Everyone of us, and I’m saying this to myself first, must, ” Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.
(Heb 12:14 AMP)
